Turning Three

Today E has turned three, how did that happen? Its true when people say the years just fly by. I remember the day she came into the world very clearly from the labour and emergency caesarean to tea and toast and the jacket potato I was given for my evening meal. Each of E’s birthdays have been memorable too. Looking back at her first birthday, we had a little party/playsession in the garden with some of the mums and children from our ante natal group. The sun was shining and a great day was had by all. She had a hungry caterpillar themed birthday party. E was a very lucky girl and was given a smart trike for her birthday. When she turned two we had another play session, luckily the weather was nice again so we all played out in the garden. As a birthday present she had received an outdoor picnic table… View Post

Labour and the whole giving birth story

Having a relaxing evening and it suddenly dawned on me that three years ago today I was in Labour, well it was actually the early hours of Monday morning that I first felt the onset of labour take place. It’s Not What We Say..Its How We Say It

I’m sure we will have many discussions with E about HOW to say things the right way. “Yes Mummy” with a smile means a little something different than “Yes Mummy” with an eye roll and a sigh. However, even saying something nice in the wrong tone can really limit the strength of the words you have chosen. There are times that you particularly need to be watchful of this effect are when you are feeling hurt, angry, and sometimes even sad. Yelling has a time and place. If I am about to do something life threatening without realizing it, I certainly want you to yell a warning to me. That is the point of yelling, to grab someone’s immediate attention–to make them hesitate. However if you go around yelling all the time, whenever you get upset, soon your yelling is not only less effective, all the words you say lose their meaning behind… View Post
