International Purple Day – Epilepsy Awareness and My Story.

Yesterday I wrote a blog post explaining and informing you about International Purlple Day, at the end of that post I told you I would be sharing my purple day photos and my Epilepsy Story in the hope of creating some awareness. Here I am wearing purple. When I was fourteen I was diagnosed with epilepsy, I had several seizures before my diagnoses of Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy, which is typically generalized throughout the brain. I was having the typical symptoms of JME (arms flinching, legs buckling.. soon after I woke up in the morning) for several months before my grand mal, but no one knew what it was so we just ignored them because they didn’t seem to cause me trouble after 30-45 minutes from waking up in the morning. My fist grand mal seizure that I recall was whilst I was camping with a friend, I remember waking early morning and my… View Post

International Purple Day 26th March 2015

If you see lots of people wearing purple on Thursday 26 March, it’s no new fashion trend.  Many will be supporters of International Purple Day which aims to raise awareness of epilepsy. Purple Day was founded in Canada by nine years old Cassidy Megan in 2008 who has epilepsy and was having a hard time coping and wanted to raise awareness to help people understand. Since then people have joined forces in creating awareness on the 26th March every year. Epilepsy is often referred to as the ‘hidden condition’. This is because, unless someone sees you having a seizure, they often have no idea that you have epilepsy! This often means that some people have very little understanding of what epilepsy really is. Or, that there are over 40 different types of epilepsy and types of seizure. Or, that it can affect everyone differently. The beauty of Purple Day is… View Post

It’s not an incredibly cute photo (although I have added some) nor a major milestone reached and I’m not here to post a piece of advice I’ve received that I feel so compelled to share I’m here because this is my little space on the internet where I can vent my feelings, share my life and empty my mind – and there is plenty to empty out. But the… View Post

First trip to the cinema

At the start of the year I wrote a bucket list of things that I would like to achieve during the year, if you missed that post take a look at it here Bucket List Taking E to the cinema for the first time is on that list, the prospect of this was both exciting and unnerving. E is not one for sitting still, she wont sit still to watch a film at home instead she plays and watches it at the same time. Over half term, which seems so long ago, there was a special Peppa Pig show :The Golden Boots’, with a selection of Peppa’s favourite stories as well as a never-before-seen fifteen minute special.. As soon as I heard about it I thought this is just perfect for E’s first trip to the cinema. Being a peppa pig fan and that it was only an hour-long. So off… View Post
