Hape’s George Luck Artic Animals Puzzle Review

E has always loved puzzles, she will spend ages doing them. Hape’s Artic Animals  is a puzzle with a difference. It’s a wooden puzzle with two different layers, both full of vibrant colours and arctic animals. I think wooden toys are often the best kind, it is charming, classical and very well made. It would make a perfect gift for children that love doing puzzles. The puzzle displays a winter wonderland scene of sea, ice, polar bears and sea creatures. It comes in simple packaging which has a picture on the back so you can discover where the pieces should go. As the puzzle has two layers it makes it more interesting and challenging to do. The Arctic animal puzzle is made from large pieces and recognisable shapes, this beautiful two-layered wooden puzzle encourages fine motor skills, memory, hand to eye co-ordination, dexterity and shape recognition.  The bright colours and stunning… View Post

Dealing With A Toddler Who Is A Picky Eater

J is now twenty months old and is a picky eater. Having a toddler who only eats a limited selection of foods is hard work. He has reached the stage where he wont eat anything he doesn’t recognise. I am sure many people will say this is my fault to pandering to him. But I would rather him eat something than nothing at all. At the moment the food’s that he will eat are :- Fish Cake Potato Waffles Chips Sausages – only when they are cooked in gravy! Roast Potato’s Pizza Apples Carrots Yorkshire Puddings Sweetcorn Strawberries Ice cream Yoghurt He used to eat so much more. So as you can see he is super picky. I have tried so many things to get him to eat food and I am starting to pull my hair out. Meal times have started to become stressful. It doesn’t help that he doesn’t talk much… View Post

Paulos Circus At Darts Farm, Topsham

There is something magical about visiting the circus, the big top, the bright lights and the amazing atmosphere. Paulos Circus visits Darts Farm in Exeter every year, yet I have never been. E has never been to the circus before, so when we were invited to see the show I knew she would love it. When we pulled up to Darts Farm it was impossible to not see the big pink top, this made E very excited. Once we had parked we went and collected our tickets. We were then told we could sit where ever we liked. It didn’t matter where you sat as you would still get an amazing view. As we walked into the big top we were able to buy popcorn, candyfloss, drinks and a flashing light toy. As E doesn’t like popcorn or candyfloss so I let her having one of the flashing light things… View Post

The Hape Noahs Ark is a pull along toy, shape sorter and play set all in one! A great toy with so many uses that makes it perfect for children of all ages. It says it is suitable from 12 months old. The Ark is made from wood and is bright and colourful and it comes complete with 7 animals (crocodiles, giraffes, hippos, lions, zebras, elephants and birds) along with Noah and his wife. One side of the Ark is a shape sorter and the other side has a little door that opens. You can pull it down so that the animals can walk into the ark. J is only twenty months old and is currently exploring… View Post

Books To Stay Up Late Reading

How good is reading? Of all the things I wish I had more time to selfishly pursue, I think books would be number one. Yes, I love shopping and pampering, and I imagine getting your nails done must be lovely (I think I’ve had it done once in my life?), but curling up with a book (a real and actual book with pages to turn) is the simplest and most wonderful pleasure on earth. I wouldn’t say I’m a book snob per se but I stay away from certain genres just because they don’t do it for me. Life is short and there are far too many books for me to waste time on mills and boons and fantasy Sci fi trilogies. But that’s just me. I think because I write myself, I like to be inspired when I open a book. It doesn’t need to be an intellectual workout… View Post
