Mobility and Multiple Sclerosis

In 2003 my dad was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, I remember the day well. I was at work when my mum text me to tell me. Like a lot of people I wasn’t quite sure what it entailed or what the future would hold. iPhones didn’t exist back then so I had to wait until I got home to read more about it. At the time there wasn’t a lot of information to read but everything that I did read made me aware that Multiple Sclerosis was going to change my family’s life. My mum and dads particularly. My dad carried on working and his MS didn’t really seem to affect life too much. Fast forward several years and my dad could no longer do the job he was employed to do. Once he was unemployed and living at home – he used to work away. He slowly lost his… View Post

A Dog’s Purpose Review

Having watched the trailer for A Dog’s Purpose, I knew the film was gong to give me a warm fuzzy feeling. The Plot The film is set spends the film in the simple mindset of a dog (voiced by Josh Gad), , who continues to be reincarnated every time it dies. The weirder part is that the dog remembers all of its memories and experiences from its past lives, but for some reason does not utilize them. Ethan and his mum were in town shopping when they saw a cute puppy locked in a car dehydrated in a car. They break the car window and end up keeping the dog. Ethan calls him Bailey. The film spends most of the time with Bailey and his first family. Ethan as a child finds solace and companionship with his dog while growing up in a tumultuous household. As Ethan grows older he… View Post

Learning with Education Quizzes – Review

With the summer school holidays coming to a close. I am aware that it has been a long time since E has done any school work. It is easy for children to forget everything they have been taught over the last year. Because of this, is it sometimes important to have a quick recap over the work from the last year. Education Quizzes is a great website for practicing and learning. After being told about Education Quizzes I was keen to get E to have a go at some of the quizzes. E loves learning for which we are lucky. She is a bright young girl who does well at school, however we know she struggles with her maths. So I thought I would let her have a go at some of the KS1 maths quizzes for pupils. There are at least 100 different maths quizzes covering different topics. The quizzes… View Post

Technology Isn’t Always A Good Thing

Technology is everywhere we look. Computers, tablets, phones, game consoles and television. Whilst technology comes with many advantages, there are also occasions when it isn’t a good thing. When I was a kid the only options for writing were pen and paper and type writers. Game Consoles were starting to appear. I loved my ZX Spectrum, despite it taking half an hour to load a game. Paper boy was a firm favourite. To see friends it was a case of knocking on a door or phoning them from the land line.  Now I never write letters with pen and paper and I don’t phone people that often. I text rather than call most of the time and I spend a lot of time in front of one device or another. I do my banking and shopping online and keep up to date with friends on facebook. All of this is very… View Post
