Bump Watch 36 Weeks

36 weeks eek… Only four weeks give or take left to go! That is kind of exciting but also quite scary at the same time. Now that E has started school full time I am slowly getting some time back to myself. This is lovely but I am aware this is only for a few weeks so I better not get too used to it! I sometimes wonder my sanity for starting all over again. At this stage the average baby weighs almost 6lbs and is more than 18 and half inches long. This is equivalent to a water melon or the size of a head of a romaine lettuce. The baby is still gaining weight at the stage getting ready for its entry into the world. The baby’s hearing is also extra sharp during these last few weeks and may develop favourite sounds or songs that It will enjoy after it is born. With E… View Post

Bump Watch 35 Weeks

Thirty Five Weeks pregnant and we are on the home stretch, which means only 35 more days give or take until the little wriggler joins us, writing it as only 35 days makes me realise how soon our little family of three is going to become a little hectic family of four. The average baby at this stage is around 18 inches long and weighs around 5 1/4 pounds – averaging the size of a Honeydew Melon. Now that the baby has run out of room it isn’t doing somersaults anymore but it still very active. The kidneys are fully developed now and the baby’s liver can process some waste products. The baby’s main development over the coming weeks is weight gain, it is said that it now looks like a lovely newborn baby just not as heavy. They currently have close to 15% fat on their body, but this… View Post

Bump Watch 34 Weeks

34 Weeks pregnant and entering week 35 eeek – not long now. I am a mixture of emotions of excitement and wondering what an earth am I doing starting with another baby and all the sleepless nights, I am certainly doubting my sanity but I know it will all be worth it. By week 34 the average baby can weigh up to 5 pounds and is almost 20 inches long – similar to the size of a cantaloupe. The baby is getting fatter and rounder getting ready for being born, their skin is also increasingly smooth and rounded due to this weight gain. The baby is capable of sleeping with its eyes closed and keeping them open when awake. Organs are fully mature, except the lungs. These may not be fully mature until week 36. The baby’s immune system is developing ready for the arrival into the world. At the end of… View Post

Bump Watch 33 Weeks

33 Weeks pregnant and embarking on week 34 – what a long week is appears to have been. I am starting to feel like I have been pregnant forever, but I have only started feeling that way this week because I am having a tough time with Braxton Hicks Contractions, I didn’t really get them when I was pregnant with E so it’s all very new and very uncomfortable, particularly on an evening when I finally get to put my feet up and rest. The other night they were so intense I was starting to wonder if they were heading towards the real thing.. thankfully not though. This week the average baby weighs in at over 4 pounds and 17 inches long – the average size of a pineapple. The baby’s bones are also continuing to harden at this stage too, except for those in their skull, which stay soft and… View Post

Bump Watch 32 Weeks

Well her I am at 32 weeks pregnant and embarking into week 33, the time really is ticking by now. Before I know it the little wriggler will be here. I had a midwife appointment this week and that went well, baby is still measuring a little ahead but growth must have slowed as I am now only a week ahead, which is a good thing. The midwife commented on how it is just all baby and that there is no other weight that has really been gained, apparently I am a trainee midwives dream patient as you can feel and identify different areas of the body by just touching areas of the bump. All I know is that things are getting cramped In there and every movement makes my whole tummy move and sometimes takes me by surprise. My blood pressure was a little higher compared to how low it… View Post
