Joshua’s Birth Story

Having finally announced the arrival of Joshua on the blog the other day I thought I would share with you Joshua’s birth story. Joshua was born on the 7th October 2015 at 9.21am, he came into the world earlier than anticipated. My due date was the 19th October by my dates and the 11th October based on the first scan. Joshua weighed 8lb 3oz and is perfect, I do wonder if I had gone full term how heavy he would have been. My pregnancy wasn’t the easiest compared to when I was pregnant with E, I put it down to being four years older and also having to look after E. I had low blood pressure throughout and very low iron levels, so I had the delight of taking an iron supplement which was supposed to help with the constant tiredness. It helped a little but not as much as I hoped. At… View Post

Bump Watch 36 Weeks

36 weeks eek… Only four weeks give or take left to go! That is kind of exciting but also quite scary at the same time. Now that E has started school full time I am slowly getting some time back to myself. This is lovely but I am aware this is only for a few weeks so I better not get too used to it! I sometimes wonder my sanity for starting all over again. At this stage the average baby weighs almost 6lbs and is more than 18 and half inches long. This is equivalent to a water melon or the size of a head of a romaine lettuce. The baby is still gaining weight at the stage getting ready for its entry into the world. The baby’s hearing is also extra sharp during these last few weeks and may develop favourite sounds or songs that It will enjoy after it is born. With E… View Post

Third Trimester Mood Swings

My moods are swinging more than a child on a playground. In the same breath, in no particular order, I will cry, laugh hysterically and scream. The book, “What to Expect When You’re Expecting,” says women experience extreme mood swings in the third trimester, and our partners are going to have to have a little extra patience… I think everyone I encounter needs to have a little extra patience, especially as my husband is away four days of the working week. I would like write a book about pregnancy and I would have to say, “In the Third Trimester you will experience extreme bouts of psychopathic behaviour, it’s best to seclude yourself from your husband, family and friends, when this behaviour occurs. If possible fully sound proof and pad the walls in a small room in your home, as you will feel an over whelming need to scream and throw things. Also, it… View Post

28 Week Growth Scan

On Friday I had my 28 week growth scan, I was offered one due to my Epilepsy because my medication can lead to low birth weight in the baby. I was looking forward to the scan because it was a chance to see the baby again and to see if it I was growing a giant baby. What was also exciting about this scan is that E was getting to come with us due to being on her school holidays, she was very excited about getting to see the baby. Luckily we didn’t have to wait long for the scan when I arrived for the appointment, E was kept occupied by the fish tank until we were called in. Once in there I explained to E that she would have to sit with daddy and if she watched the big screen she would see the baby. The sonographer was a really lovely… View Post

Am I growing a giant baby?

Yesterday I had a standard 27 weeks midwife appointment, my lovely midwife, who is a little on the scatty side but never the less she really is lovely, came round to my house for the appointment to make things easier for me. After running half an hour late she turned up, we got my pregnancy notes out and went though all the usual standard stuff..  First asking how I am, tired… that’s how I am. She took my blood pressure which is still low, crazy low! But she isn’t worried about it as low blood pressure doesn’t affect the baby like high blood pressure. Apparently with low blood pressure I should be feeling pretty rough. Dizzy, nausea and just crappy, but no I have none of that.. just tired! The urine was tested which is all fine and then it was time to take some blood to test for iron… View Post
