It’s Winnie The Pooh Day

“What day is it?”, asked Winnie the Pooh. “It’s today,” squeaked Piglet. “My favourite day,” said Pooh. ― A.A. Milne Today, January 18th, is the birthday of author A.A. Milne. And it is thus, that today we celebrate what I believe to be his most marvellous creation: Winnie the Pooh.  Author A.A. Milne brought the adorable, honey-loving bear to life in his stories which also featured his son, Christopher Robin. I have always loved Winnie the Pooh as long as I can remember. I think I was around the age of eight when I started to read the books alone. I also recall watching The Adventures of Winnie the Pooh on a Saturday morning when I was a little older. It wasn’t just Winne the Pooh that was adorable. So many other characters that I loved. To name a few there is Piglet, Eeyore,Tigger and Rabbit. Piglet always tries his very best to brave… View Post

Living Arrows 3/52 (2018)

It’s another week of Living Arrows. Every Monday I will be sharing a photo that celebrates childhood. The project originally took its name from a poem – “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” – Kahlil Gibran   This week has been a fairly quiet week. last weekend was my 40th Birthday and since the excitement of celebrating me getting old it has been a quiet week. Pottering round the house and going to J’s playgroup. J has been waking early during the week due to our neighbours leaving for work early and due to him being a light sleeper, is waking. This has meant that some days he has fallen asleep on the sofa. J gave his naps up quite a while ago. Like anyone, when you get over tired you need a power nap. The second photo of the week is a quick snap of E… View Post

Looking Forward To Some Summer Sun

Winter is just a few days away and I am already dreaming wistfully of warm sunshine and sandy beaches.  I’m not a fan of the cold weather, if we had some snow then I might enjoy it more. However we have had no snow and I doubt we will get any in Devon. I know It’s not even Christmas yet and I’m already talking about next year’s summer holidays. But it’s certainly worth thinking about now, plus, we’re all going to need something to look forward to after Christmas and New Year, aren’t we? After Christmas all the sales will start, everyone will have a sale on, Including Holiday Companies. This year I will be taking a look to see if there are any good deals on holidays abroad. Going on summer holidays always creates such fun, excitement  and most definitely gives us all something to look forward too. We haven’t been… View Post

Scalextric Touring Car Battle Set Review

Scalextric has been and still is a popular gift with children and adults alike! There is something about a Scalextric that appeals to everyone. I never owned a Scalextric set when I was younger, I think my brother did but I don’t recall playing with it. When I was offered the opportunity to review one, I was a little bit excited. The big kid inside. I also knew that my husband and my eldest would have so much fun with it. The simplicity of Scalextric is part of its enduring appeal. The general concept is electrically powered scale-model cars race around a slotted track. The cars are operated by a simple hand-controller. The track slots together easily which is handy when you have an impatient child who cant wait to play. The Scalextric we were sent is the Scalextric Touring Car Battle Set. It is very cool. The box contains a 15V transformer, a lap counter,… View Post
