Staycation Ideas for Families

Just to be completely honest, I have to say that I DREAM of going on holiday. The idea of only spending fun, quality, stress-free (OK, almost stress-free) time with my family in the sunshine some where is so tempting. When it comes to going on holiday, I am NOT a home-girl. I love to travel and see and experience new things, but sometimes our finances or other things prevent us from going away.. That’s where staycations (a holiday at home) come into play. It is definitely possible to make a staycation work. Your family can have fun, unwind and enjoy many of the things you enjoy on a planned out of city/state vacation. It just takes a little bit more forethought and creativity — but it sure does save a pretty penny or two! In order to make a staycation feel like a real vacation, discuss with your family some… View Post

Jungle Jam in Brazil Review & Giveaway

Last year we were sent a copy of Jungle Jam to review – you can read about Jungle Jam here. This year we have been sent the new book, which is called Jungle Jam in Brazil. We love books in this house and as soon as E got home from school we sat there and we read it. I read it once to her and J and then she sat there and read it again on her own. The book has the same characters that are in the previous Jungle Jam book, because of this E was excited as she reads the first book frequently. Jungle Jam in brazil is about the characters visiting Brazil to play in a concert. The book uses authentic words which teaches the reader a little bit about Brazil. Everyone meets a friendly Macaw and then they explore the new country. Trying out new food, musical instruments… View Post

Fidget Spinner Giveaway

Fidget Spinners are the new craze in the playground, everyone is talking about them including E. So when I was sent one in the post, E was delighted. I had no idea what to expect from a fidget spinner, I had only really seen them on social media. A fidget spinner is  a weighted spinner that is designed to help kids who have trouble focusing or fidgeting. I have heard that they are great for people with ADHD or Autism. Playing with a fidget spinner is supposed to be a way of relieving stress or nervous energy. I was a little sceptical about it at first but having had a play it is rather addictive. E will sit there spinning it for ages. She spins it in her hands, on the table, even her head! If you would like the opportunity to win a Fidget Spinner and join the latest playground… View Post

Wicked Uncle Review

When it comes to shopping for toys I always look online. One, for ease and secondly because there is a limited choice of shops that sell toys where I live. Wicked Uncle is a great website. They sell a great selection of weird, wonderful and different toys, not the sort you would see advertised on television. The website is really well set out, you can either search through different categories, gender and age. The age selection makes it really simple to find a toy that is age appropriate. I found shopping by age bought up toys I would never have thought about buying for a five year old – which is great. Each age range or category lists the most popular toys that are being bought on the website at the top. This is great if you are looking to buy something for someone and have no idea what to buy. Perfect… View Post

Photographic Memories

I love my DSLR as much as a child. I treasure it and it brings me untold joy. But what did we do before phones could take photos? E went through stages of being camera-averse and thusly, reacted strongly to the sight of the big Canon coming at her. J just wants to grab hold of it. A mobile phone though? Can be quite the sneaky little snapper and I often take photos without my kids objecting. Brilliant. The other thing about taking photos on the phone is that you can be anywhere, doing anything and grab photographic evidence with ease. They aren’t always as clear as my DSLR photos but they are great for capturing photographic memories. This spontaneous photography allows for some surprises when you look back through the crazy amounts shots you’ve taken. I am often reminded of moments of which I had forgotten. Moments I am so delighted to discover have been… View Post
