E absolutely loves ice lollies and ice cream and even more so whilst we have been having this glorious hot weather, so when Sykes Cottages contacted me inviting us to make some home-made ice lollies with E for a competition. Needless to say I jumped at the chance.
They kindly sent us some ice lolly moulds and an ice lolly recipe book for inspiration.
After much thought we decided to make Strawberry and Watermelon ice lollies – two of E’s favourite fruits.
- 1 lb Watermelon
- 1/2 lb of Strawberries
- Juice of a lime
- tablespoon of sugar
Method – Photos of E displaying the method!
Step One – Hull Strawberries and cut them in half and then blend
Step Two – Sieve the puree through a fine mesh sieve, discard any solids.
Step Three – Chop the watermelon in to pieces and then blend
Step Four – Sieve the Watermelon puree and discard solids
Step six – Pour the mixture into ice lolly moulds, put the sticks in and freeze for 3-4 hours
Step Seven – Enjoy!
These ice lollies are so simple to make and E really enjoyed herself. A really healthy alternative to some of the shop bought lollies you can buy.
The hardest part of making the lollies for E, was having to wait for them to freeze. But as she can see she really enjoyed them once they were ready.
I have already been told that the next ice lollies have to have bananas in…
