I remember when we bought E home for hospital, it was like we were in this baby bubble of all things wonderful. Once she was on the move we had to think about baby proofing the house. In the end we didn’t have to do much, she was really good. When we said no she didn’t touch or do things she shouldn’t do. We had a stair gate for safety, that was the main thing.
Fast forward four years and J came a long, he is a complete different kettle of fish compared to E. Not only is he a rubbish sleeper. he is also destructive and inquisitive. We haven’t had to do too much baby proofing but we have been aware of more things that need to be made safe with him around. Even the simple things like keeping E’s smaller toys out of reach.
I am currently considering cupboard locks. J has taken to taking things out of the cupboards and I worry about him hurting himself is some things breaks.
According to research, half a million children under the age of four are hurt in the home every year. That’s a lot of children and makes me think more about how baby safe our home is.
Rattan Direct has created a quick quiz to see if people are aware of certain dangers, and it’s well worth having a go…
I got 9 out of ten which is pretty good. It is still worrying that I didn’t get the question right about what temperature scolding occurs. At least I have learnt this from this quick quiz.
Let me know how you get on.
