Eating out is a special treat in our house, however eating out as a family poses many challenges. Firstly getting time when we are all together and also secondly finding somewhere child friendly.
Last week we were invited by Britmums to go to our local Prezzo and try our their new La Famiglia Sharing Pasta Bowls. We had been to Prezzo in Exmouth before, but never with the children.
The new La Famiglia bowls celebrate the joy of trying dishes as a family. There are currently four sharing bowls to choose from – Penne Arrabiata, Spaghetti Bolognese, Spaghetti Carbonara or Penne Alla Rusticana.
La Famiglia sharing bowls took the stress away of staring at the menu for too long and regretting your choice. As soon as the sharing bowl was placed in front of us we all made a collective “oooooh”. There’s something amazing about a giant bowl of food being placed in front of you.
We chose the Spaghetti Bolognese as we knew E would eat it. The dish will feed four adults and I think that is about right, especially as we also had two garlic breads with the meal.
When the very large bowl of Spaghetti Bolognese was bought over the waitress also gave us some little bowls so that we could dish out the amount we wanted.
Here you can see the yummy feast we had to eat. The garlic breads were the size of large pizzas. It has to be said it is the best garlic bread I have ever eaten.
The La Famigla sharing bowls are such a great idea. You don’t have to worry about portion sizes being too big or small – which sometimes happens. You just take the amount you want. In our case there was enough to go back for seconds.
Eating Spaghetti Bolognese is always a messy meal for E. She absolutely loves sucking up the spaghetti and inevitably gets a messy face. It was so nice to see how much she was enjoying eating out as a family.
Having never taken the children to Prezzo before I was impressed at how child friendly it was. When we got there the waitress bought over colouring sheets and crayons to keep them busy until the food arrived. They also spoke to the children in such a lovely way , making sure they were ok as well as us. It’s the little things that make eating out as a family extra special.
E was keen to show me all the puzzles on one side whilst we were waiting for our dessert to arrive.
After stuffing ourselves with spaghetti Bolognese and garlic bread – we were defeated and couldn’t eat it all. However we all still had room for some ice cream. The girls chose strawberry and chocolate ice cream and we also opted for strawberry.
A couple of scoops is just the right amount. The strawberry ice cream was so tasty, the nicest I have eaten in a long time.
As soon as the ice cream turned up the girls were quiet for a while..
We all had so much fun at Prezzo, it was the most perfect family meal. It felt so much more of a social occasion. There were giggles, messy mouths and none of the ‘I don’t know what to order’ and taking different orders for everyone.
Our Prezzo La Famiglia experience was really enjoyable and I would definitely go back to Prezzo for another family meal.
