We have been counting down the days to the summer holidays for what seems like weeks, maybe even months. It feels like it has been an incredible long half term. Today is the first full day of our summer holidays. I am planning on having lots of fun and making lots of memories.
Year one has flown by so quick, I cannot believe E will be going into year two after the summer. She is changing all the time and never ceases to amaze me. It seems like so long ago when I wrote about her starting year one and the post Year one at school so far..
We all need the summer holidays. E is tired and has spent the last few weeks being cheeky and snappy. I definitely need a break from the relentless school runs in all weathers, making packed lunches and the whole sorting the uniform and bags out for each day.
The kids are ready to not be rushed around on a morning, to just be able to chill. Sit in their pyjamas and play. I am not making plans for the summer, we will take each day and week at a time. I am not one of these mum’s that will plan something every day. We all need to chill and have some lazy days.
We will go out places and we will have plenty of fun. The summer holidays are all about making memories. The next six weeks will be a mixture of catching up with friends, play dates, days out and relaxing. Unfortunately E has summer holidays homework that has to be done but it wont take up a lot of time.
As much as I like the time when E is at school, as I get to have alone time with J and also clean up, I always look forward to picking her up from school, as does J. Its going to be lovely to have her home. I am aware that there will still be the occasional tantrums and I will sometimes hear ‘I don’t know what to do’ or ‘I’m bored’. But I am a strong believer that it is important for them to just play, use their imagination and entertain themselves occasionally.
The next six weeks are all about the children, so be prepared for some quiet time on the blog. I will still be here and will spend the occasional evening keeping you informed of our antics but as a whole things will be quieter than normal. After hectic days with the children I will want to relax on an evening. My husband M, has three weeks annual leave booked off so I am looking forward to family time and spending our evenings relaxing together.
I hope you all have a wonderful six weeks off and make the most of your time having fun. Before we know it we will be back to the sorting school uniform and battling with the school morning routine.
