Teething

Ahhhh teething… Of course it all started with that first drop of drool at nine weeks old.  That drop of drool then turned into the steady drip that soaked the neckline of the his t-shirt, making a bib the new must have outfit necessity. That steady drip then turned into the flowing river of drool that soaked EVERYTHING, bib or not!  Now that everything is soaked the inevitable fussy whine starts, which means J is teething in full force…  So, what does that really mean besides teeth are coming… EVERYTHING GETS SHOVED IN HIS MOUTH! It’s actually a little scary how everything within reach gets shoved in J’s mouth.  Nothing is too big, or too small, if he can grab it he can stuff it.  Things like my hand, my clothes, his toys of course, my iPhone, his blanket, the carpet, the sofa cushion, and my slippers! When my slippers were discovered in a… View Post

Eight month old baby observations

I don’t even know what to say. Am I really 8-months postpartum, and my little baby eight months old? It’s all going too fast. I say it every time, and judging by the old women who accost me on the bus to tell me, “Cherish this time because it goes too fast,”  I will continue to say this every time. Forever. I just cannot believe it has been 8-months since I was pregnant.  Too fast… 1.  J is big – I need to get him weighed but the main thing I notice is how long he is – he is longer than babies older than him.. 2. He is a human wrecking ball.  Now that J is mobile he rolls into everything in his way. He is constantly up to no good. 3. He has figured out that screaming, fussing and whining will get him attention.  I am trying not to respond as much,… View Post

Everyone’s favourite dog – Follow-me Fred!

Children have so many toy’s these days, all of which are great as they entertain my children but occasionally a toy comes along that I love equally as much as the child. In this case its Tiny Love – Follow Me Fred Fred is a fun toy that is aimed at encouraging crawling. Fred really is an adorable little dog with bright colours and crinkly ears and tail. To get Fred to move all you have to do is gently tap him, he only moves for a few seconds which allows the baby to try to follow him. Fred has a wonderful flexible body which means you can get him to move in the direction you want, when his body is curved you can get him to go round in a circle. Fred has adjustable speeds, that way when your little one gets a little faster at crawling or walking, so will Fred,… View Post

Five months old – Observations of my beautiful baby

I cant believe it J is five months old today (21 weeks), where has the time gone apart from being a blur of disturbed sleep.. These are a few of my observations of our lovely little boy. He is so aware of the world around him!   He knows his name and his home. He knows his routine and toys. He is brilliant! He rolled of the changing mat yesterday – it was on the floor. . He has really bad baby eczema which makes me very sad. He poops every other day. – apart from when teething! He only eats solids once a day, for tea. I am going to try to keep it like that until he is 6 months old as we want to do baby led weaning like we did with E. His coos have gone to goo-gaaas and oh-yeahs. I’m guessing words up from the partial… View Post

Joshua is three months old!

I cannot believe how fast the time has gone, but it’s true Joshua is now three months old – well thirteen week to be precise! At three months old he is… Ridiculously long – really must get him measured again Around thirteen pounds – need to get him weighed to verify his current weight as that was a week or so ago. Not completely bald but getting there! He still is loosing his hair in funny tufts. Still exclusively breastfed. Is sleeping about 14 hours a day total. Not showing any signs of sleeping through the night, BOOO! He sleeps his first stretch starting at 7 or 8pm – and goes to 1 or 2am then the next for 4 hours and then he is either ready to rock and roll 6am or he will go back to sleep. He smiles at me when he hears my voice or when I am staring at… View Post
