August in a Nutshell

August has been and gone and E is now back at school. I remember thinking to myself that the six weeks school holidays is such a long time. Looking back at it the time went by super quick. We have had an interesting summer holidays, we haven’t done a lot really but as a whole we have had a nice time. This month I have however failed to take many photos. At the start of the month we took it easy, had a lot of play days in the sunshine. Even on the cooler days we made time to head down to the beach and have some fun. E loves the hat and sunglasses that we were sent earlier in the month. We had a couple of days out during the school holidays. The first day trip was to Dartmoor Zoo, we haven’t been there before. Its a lovely little… View Post

Our Prezzo La Famiglia Experience

Eating out is a special treat in our house, however eating out as a family poses many challenges. Firstly getting time when we are all together and also secondly finding somewhere child friendly. Last week we were invited by Britmums to go to our local Prezzo and try our their new La Famiglia Sharing Pasta Bowls. We had been to Prezzo in Exmouth before, but never with the children. There’s something amazing about a giant bowl of food being placed… View Post

Housework vs Life

I hate housework. With a passion. I always have. There is always something else I’d rather be doing, something more important and meaningful. Anything! Like writing, going out for lunch, spending quality time with my family, living life. Cleaning the house together, as a family, is not quality time in my books. I sometimes think, usually as I’m vacuuming or scrubbing the toilet, that if the world ended today I’d like to have spent my last hours doing some truly important things, not cleaning the house or doing laundry or dishes. But this rebellious line of thinking is ridiculous because I hate having a dirty house. And it’s not going to clean itself! I hate it so much. During the Easter school holidays E and I went to London for a few days, a welcome break. However when I came back to a messy house it made me miserable. Cleaning with J around… View Post

Motherhood and #MumMoments

Motherhood is hard work. And sometimes it feels just like that – work. It is also a delight and very rewarding. And then there are moments that, for me, really define what it is to be a mum. Moments that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Not just the milestones that the children have achieved but lots of other wonderful memories. With mother’s day in the near distance I am going to share with you some of my favourite mum moments. The births were both memorable due to them both being complicated. Meeting them as babies is something that still makes me smile. The Smile E’s first smile melted my heart. She had such a wonderful happy smile – she still does and when she smiles and laughs it fills me with joy. This is a mum moment that made all the hard work worth it. Her happy… View Post
