Today – the 7th of July is World Chocolate Day. A day that is all about celebrating the wonderful chocolate of the world. It isn’t only about chocolate bars, it is a celebration of all things chocolatey.
Chocolate is one of the most popular treats and there are so many different varieties of chocolate. Chocolate bars to chocolate cake, chocolate covered fruit to chocolate ice cream. There is something that will appeal to every chocolate lover.
The day can be celebrated in a variety of different ways, of course, but the most common way to celebrate World Chocolate Day is to choose a delightful chocolate treat and indulge. Whether its buying a chocolate cake from the bakery, eating some chocolate ice cream in the sunshine or simply eating some chocolate bars.
I am definitely a chocoholic and I love nothing more than eating some delicious chocolate. There is an array of wonderful flavoured chocolate available to buy. Some of the more unique flavours are really tasty.
I decided to ask a few other bloggers what their favourite chocolate bar is. This was actually a sneaky way of deciding which chocolate bars to buy. There is so much choice to choose from.
Nicki from Yorkshire Wonders said “I love Turkish Delight covered in chocolate. Hubby thinks this is the worst kind, but I love it”. Chocolate covered Turkish delight is a firm favourite of mine
Laura from Five little Doves made me laugh with her reply. “Cadburys Wispa. Because it’s got holes in and I tell myself it’s not as bad for you as a solid bar of chocolate, and for that reason I eat two!” I like Laura’s line of thinking.
As I have grown up chocolate bars appear to be smaller, or maybe it’s because I am now bigger? Han-Son Lee from Daddlife said that his favourite chocolate bar is a “Kit Kat Chunky. I LOVED Kit Kat as a kid, and now the Chunky is just perfect for the grown up (big kid) in me”
Kate from Counting To Ten was impressed to hear that there is a world chocolate day. She said ” I love Fry’s Peppermint Cream because it’s delicious and has no milk products in (I’m currently dairy free, but disclaimer it may contain traces so isn’t suitable for dairy allergies).
Rachel from Coffee, Cake, Kids said that she enjoys Peanut butter Kit Kat chunky. “Chocolate and peanut butter are my two favourite things so put them together and that’s a win right there! “
As you can see there is chocolate that appeals to everyone and for different reasons. Some of the chocolate mentioned I have yet to try.
Laura from Mummy Is A Gadget Geek said “I love Whittakers L&P and Jelly Tip I think the L&P just pips it to the post for me, it’s quite unusual to find lemony flavoured chocolate and the added popping candy bits create an interesting contrast in textures. Unfortunately they’re both from New Zealand, and both special editions. So when I’m lucky enough to get some I have to make them last. One…little…bit…at…a…time” I have never tried any Whittakers chocolate, one for the list..
Sometimes chocolate is so tasty that you just don’t want to share it, or even better you like a chocolate bar others don’t like. Gemma from Life is knutts said “White chocolate Toblerone. Bonus is my husband hates white chocolate and the kids hate nuts so I get it all to myself! Winner!”
Some people aren’t aware that today is World Chocolate Day. Ronnie from DearBabies said ” Wow a choc day! How did I never know of this day. You have to eat your weight in chocolate on the day right?! My ultimate chocolate has to be a bag of Cadbury’s Stars. Why? Because the bag holds so many – it’s a never-ending supply”
I have enjoyed reading about other people’s favourite chocolate. The choices they have mentioned is only a scratch on the surface of all the wonderful chocolate available. There are some less well known chocolate companies. Divine chocolate is tasty and is a Fair trade chocolate company which is 45% owned by cocoa farmers. Willies is a bean to bar chocolate and tantalises the taste buds. There really are so many smaller companies that make amazing chocolate.
One company I have recently just heard about is Choc Affair. A British hand made chocolatiers based in York, that makes a variety of flavoured chocolate. I particularly like the sound of their Rhubarb chocolate. So many flavours I wouldn’t know which to try first. If you are looking for something a little different then I recommend should check out their website. Also until the 31st July you can also get 10% of all orders using the code MTM.
