30 Weeks pregnant, wow! To think I only announced on my blog ten weeks ago that I was pregnant – the time really is flying by. Only another ten weeks, give or take the little wriggler will be here with us. We are still nowhere near ready for the arrival of the little one, this coming week we are having work done in the spare room ready to turn it into E’s big girl room, once that is done I can start getting all the baby stuff sorted. Lets hope the little wriggler doesn’t arrive early as the house is upside down at the moment with things everywhere.
It is said that the average baby at 30 weeks is about 15.7 inches long now and weighs almost 3 pounds, A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds the baby but that amount shrinks as the baby takes up more room. This week the baby’s eyesight is continuing to develop but even when baby is born it will only have 20/400 vision which means it will only be able to see things that are a few inches from her face. This week the baby’s brain is also changing, it is no longer smooth but it is taking on grooves and edges that’s give it the same appearance of an adult’s brain.
The bump is growing slowly, some days I feel like I am really big and others not so – I think what I wear and how the baby is lying at the time contributes to that. I still feel tired quite a lot, but I am taking my yucky iron supplement so I am assuming it’s because I am on the home stretch and everything seems harder than before.
The kicks are constant and BIG these days, and I’d guess that I spend at least two hours of each day staring at my belly watching the baby move. I can feel big body parts and I think it may be getting into the correct head down position. But as it is constantly moving its hard to tell.
I have felt fairly emotional this last week, and its It’s nice to hear that my mood swings and out-of-control emotions are normal for this stage of pregnancy, and I’m not just totally losing it. Some days I wake up on cloud nine, feeling excited and ready and overjoyed about being pregnant. Other days I am teary, weepy, and totally overwhelmed. Glad to know that is to be expected!
I don’t have any particular cravings, still enjoying sweet stuff and could quite happily munch on lots of bad things. I am also enjoying trying to eat a high iron diet – lots of yummy red meats.
I am starting to get bored with maternity clothing as I only have a limited amount and most of the ones I had from when I was pregnant with E are for the colder weather. Instead of buying new maternity clothes I have purchased a couple of ‘normal’ but larger in size items to give me some variety and whilst we have been sorting through all the clothing and other items piled up in the spare room I have found a couple of very loose tops I can also wear which I am happy about.
I am aware that I need to start getting baby stuff sorted this next week or so as the time is ticking by, everything seems to be happening all at once at the moment though.
That’s all for this week, check back next week for more bump watch.

Poor Emily was only ever a bean but this time you’re going through the whole lexicon of fruit and veg.
She was a good Bean though.. Never gave me any trouble.. Until she got older.. This wriggler gives me plenty of grief already!
