Paris is an amazing city that many people love or want to visit. The city has a reputation of being a romantic place to visit. The city has so much to offer – romance, beauty, historical sites, museums, great shows etc. All of this is wonderful and perfect if you are going away on a romantic break. However, a lot of these things wont interest all children.
If you are thinking about going to Paris, but not sure there will be enough to keep the children occupied, do not worry. There are some great child friendly activities that children will love.
Paris Aquarium
I have always found a trip to an aquarium is a great activity for both children and adults alike to enjoy. Paris Aquarium is France’s largest aquarium. The aquarium is also in a great location, very close to the Eiffel Tower. Makes it easy to cover two attractions close together. The Paris aquarium has a so many things to do, there is a vast collection of sea creatures to see. There are films to watch, a touch pool for children – which proves popular. There is plenty to keep children happy.
Eiffel Tower Carousel
There are plenty of carousels in Paris, what makes this one special. The view of course. A stones throw from the Eiffel Tower. A nice treat for the children after going to the Eiffel Tower. Its the little things like this that breaks up doing some of the attractions and activities that the adults want to do. This makes the trip more enjoyable for everyone.
Le Marais Treasure Hunt
This a great 2-hour tour in Le Marais and one that children will enjoy. This tour is led by a child-friendly historian and your kids will act as detectives, solving riddles along the way. Children are also given activity books to make it more exciting for them. You will get to see great Parisian history, such as the oldest remains and the Shoah Memorial. You’ll learn about the fate of the Jewish community in Paris during WWII, but the guide will adapt this to your child’s age. This is the perfect tour if you want to learn something, and you want your children to learn something. There are plenty of exciting things to see on the way.
Disneyland Paris
Despite Paris being in the name, Disneyland is actually in a nearby Marne-la-Vallée. It doesn’t however take overly long to get there. Approximately an hour. We have yet to take the children to Dinseyland in Paris, I have however been. All i can say is don’t take a coach there from the the UK.. that was an epic journey. It is magical and every child will love to go. The rides are great fun and something for all ages. You will see many Disney characters throughout the day with some fab photo opportunities. You can also purchase an autograph book and get all of their autographs throughout your visit. There are some reasonable priced day tickets available. There is a train station stop just outside of the park making it easily accessible.
Jardin De Luxembourg
Sightseeing can be tiring for children and adults alike. Take some time out at the Jardin De Luzembourg. It can be found in the city centre. It is also a great place to have a picnic. There is plenty to do in the gardens, as well as relax. The Garden’s have great play areas, there is a small pond where they can sail a boat, a puppet theater with shows throughout the day. There are even pony rides! A great pit stop.
Asterix Park
If you are looking for a theme park that your children would have fun at, then Disneyland is not your only option. Parc Astérix is a theme park in France that is based on the Asterix comic book series. If your not sure who Asterix is have a Google. I used to always read my brothers Asterix books. The park has some great roller coasters and rides, all of theme are themed. There is also a great dolphin show. The park has something to offer to all ages, making it a great day trip from Paris. You can book tickets with a coach trip included if you don’t have your own car whist staying in Paris.
River Cruise on The Seine
One of the most beautiful and relaxing ways to experience Paris is to take a cruise along the Seine. The river is easy to navigate and there are plenty of cruise options available, all with different itineraries and durations. Many cruise providers cater specifically for families with child friendly commentaries and food options.
Hop On – Hop Off Bus Tour
Hop on-hop off buses are a fun and handy way to visit Paris with kids. There are open top busses with commentaries in multiple languages. The busses stop of at some of the main Paris landmarks. The tours make it easier for your to visit the city at your own pace and give your legs a break from walking. I think they are brilliant when you have children.
Musee D’Orsay
The Musee d’Orsay is one of the most loved Paris museums by adults and children alike. The museum is smaller and more manageable than the famous Louvre. It hosts an impressive collection of impressionists work which is easy to enjoy for children of all ages. The museum offers an interactive guided tour designed for children which makes it even more fun for the children. You don’t need to book for this.
There are so many different activities in Paris that are suitable for children. Even some of the major attractions that the grown ups may want to visit always have a child friendly option. Be sure to make time to break up the sight seeing. Little legs can get tired. Paris can be expensive so taking a picnic out and about with you is a good option. Especially if you take a break at some where like the Jardin De Luxembourg.
