We are huge fans of playing games as a family. We have found ourselves playing them more frequently. As we are in our second lockdown and children are at home isolating, we are spending our free time playing games.
Both of my children love their ipads and electronics. However there is only so long i can let them sit on them playing Roblox and watching you tube.
Recently Spin Master sent us three wonderful games for us to play. We have been sent Grouch Couch, Headbandz and Beat the Parents.
Grouch Couch
The first game we played was Grouch Couch. This was actually on my 5 years olds wish list, so you can imagine how excited he was when it turned up.
It is a really easy game to set up. You load the tokens under the middle seat of the cough. It just flips up. Load all the tokens in and you are ready to go. The game does need batterys which are not included. Luckily i had some in the cupboard.
To play the game players take it in turns to roll the dice and feed it the indicated number of treats. When you press the remote control the couch animates. It could be a little grunt or a full on movement of the cough moving. Once the animation starts you have to get the cough to eat your treats! Tokens are then spits tokens out. All the tokens have different things written on them with what it is you have found down the couch.
I think that Grouch Couch is a fun family game. It is perfect for younger members of the family, however we all have fun playing it. There was plenty of laughter. A great game from Spin Master.
Hedbanz
We have had hours of fun with this game. Its a simple concept, but is a well loved game. Put on a headband, they are adjustable so they will fit everyone in the house. You then simply pop the card into the band. The person must not see the card in their band.
Turn over the timer and see if you can guess what you are by asking the rest of the family lots of questions! You can only ask yes or no questions.
There are a selection of question cards to help you thinks of some questions to ask. Some of the pictures are fairly easy to guess, yet some are really hard. One of my cards was a hammer! No amount of yes, no questions could i guess what i was.
A game that has been around for a long time and is now a firm favorite in my house. My nine year old thinks it brilliant. What i do love about this game is that all ages can join in, making it a great family game.
Beat the Parents
I love Trivia quizzes so i was quite exited about this game. To play the game your first need to split the teams into parents vs children. Each team needs to move their character around the board by answering questions.
There are different questions for parents and children.
This is a simple game, move around the board by answering the questions. The questions are different for kids and parents, and vary in how difficult the questions are.
There are also challenges. this can be term verses team or one member versus the other. Who ever wins the challenge gets to move forward. The mix of challenges adds to fun and people can get very competitive.
The first team to get their character to the other end of the game board wins!
This is a fun game to play with a mixed age group. Probably more suited to older children, my nine year old found the questions hard to we had to adapt them and pick the ones she is more likely to know. Despite that we had a lot of fun and it is a game the children do ask to play.
We all really enjoyed all the games we were sent to review. I personally love Headbanz because it is really funny when we all play it. Whenever we have a playing games session all of the games we have been sent get played. These fab games from Spin master would make a great gift and is a great way for screen free time fun.
