It has taken me quite a while to get round to writing this post, we seemed to have been busy none stop since the special day. However I was determined to write it so it so here goes.
We decided we wanted to get Joshua christened months ago but in the end it didn’t end up happening until September when he was eleven months old. Who would have thought it was so hard to organise a christening? The Vicar at our local church is crazy busy, family that we wanted to be there were all going to be away on other dates we looked at and then we had to make sure that there was accommodation available for family to stay in. In the end I chose a date knowing that the majority of people would be able to make it. After all you can fit in around everyone.
As our church vicar was busy a lovely Vicar from Minehead stepped in to help out and what a lovely chap he was, so with the church the church hall and accommodation booked all that was left to do was get the little man a cute outfit and sort the cake, oh and to sort out the food for the day.
I struggled sorting out a cake but luckily a bakery near my mum’s was able to make a cake in time, just like I wanted it. It tasted as good as it looks!
My mother in law was nothing but amazing helping organise the food for the day, to be honest I think she did a lot more towards the food than we did. I get flustered organising things like the food, everything else doesn’t bother me at all, I am simply not the hostess with the mostess!
it was a lovely sunny day which was great, I always think everyone is that little bit happier when the sun shines, I know I am anyway. Joshua had napped in the morning so was in a good mood which I am pleased about, all that was left to do was get all of us dressed into something a little smart for the occasion.
It was at this moment I realised it was near impossible to get a photo of the two little ones with them both facing forward and not blurred – this is the best of a bad bunch of photos.
The both looked lovely and J was super cute in his little smart outfit and surprisingly they both looked lovely by the end of the day too!
The service went well, not like any other christening I have been too before -the vicar, who was lovely, talked about various different religious stories and asking if people knew about certain things. Joshua was a good boy when christened, he didn’t cry when he had water put on his head, he did try to touch the water though, as a whole it was a lovely service.
Joshua has three lovely god parents, my brother and two good friends who live near by so Joshua will see them more frequently as he grows up which is nice.
After the service we had a little get together in the church hall round the back of the church which meant no one had far to go and with the help of some friends we managed to get the hall set up before hand. Everyone had a lovely afternoon, there was plenty of food and plenty of left overs – I was eating pork and beef for lunch and tea for days!
