Our Little Secret!

I have been hiding a little secret from my readers, friends and family for the last few months.. A simple photo will tell you more..

That’s right I am pregnant and E is going to be a big sister!

For those of you that haven’t noticed.. I will highlight that the date I have put on the scan for my 12 week scan is April… so not only am I pregnant but I am in fact twenty weeks pregnant.

We decided to keep our little secret to ourselves up until the twenty week scan due to there being an increased risk of birth defects because of my epilepsy and there are always people out there that wouldn’t understand a persons decisions regarding the pregnancy if there was anything really wrong.

We have only just told family last Friday and now they all know I am able to tell all my readers.

Anyway I am pleased to say the baby is growing normally and healthily – based on the scan! We decided not to find out what we were having as we want the surprise, the guessing is fun and after nine months of carrying a baby around its nice to have a little surprise at the end of it all. When E was born I was genuinely shocked when they told us we had a baby girl seeing as everyone in our family had all had boys first and it made it all very special for us.

The scan photo from the twenty week scan isn’t the best, but this little wriggler does not sit still! On both scans it has made things awkward. At the 12 week scan I had to wriggle my hips a lot to get it to move into a different view and at the twenty week scan it was clearly camera-shy as it kept moving around, it made the scan take a little longer which was great in some ways as we got to see a lot more of the baby.

As you can see it isn’t that clear, you can make out the head and see that its a baby but it isn’t that clear. Its a shame we didn’t get a clear photo but what is more important is that all went well and appears normal.

Obviously I will be blogging about my pregnancy over the coming months, hard to believe I am already half way through my pregnancy.

Anyway that’s our little secret and its nice that it’s finally out in the open and that we are able to share our happy news.
