As there was no bump watch last week, due to not having anyone to take photos for the post, todays post will cover both 25 and 26 weeks pregnant.
25 Weeks pregnant
A fairly uneventful week, but boy have I felt tired! I think the baby must be growing a lot as all I want to do is eat and sleep and I don’t have much motivation for anything else. I found that I have felt more emotional at 25 weeks, I’ve got the emotions of the 7 dwarfs! I have also noticed how much more hair I have, I think a trip to the hair dressers to trim it and possibly thin it out a bit might be on the cards as it’s getting too much in the heat.
I’m finding that I’m starting to forget things already… here comes the pregnancy brain! It’s almost happened over night as last week I was fine. These past few days I’ll have something on my mind that I need to do and I instantly forget it. I’m also finding it harder to bend down to put socks on and have to remind myself that there is a bump in the way.
It is said that the baby is the size of an eggplant at 25 weeks pregnant and measures around 13 1/2 inches and weighs around 1 1/2 pounds. So baby is slowly starting to put on some weight.
The baby has obviously got its own little routine as I am feeling a lot more movement at certain times of the day, where it will be doing a lot more somersaults and wriggling around. Evening tends to be a usual time and I always notice if first thing in the morning. Throughout the day I just feel occasional movements, mostly when I sit down after being busy. The baby moves when I place my hands on my tummy and quite frequently responds with movement when I talk to it.
The lungs are developing more and also this week baby’s nostrils, which have been plugged up until now, are starting to open this gives the baby the opportunity to practice taking deep breaths, even though it’s just amniotic fluid they are breathing in – but its good practice for it.
26 Weeks Pregnant
Another week has flown by, this week I am feeling bigger, my hips are wider, my clothes despite being maternity clothes are feeling more snug and doing certain every day things are becoming a little more challenging. I am now apparently in the last week of my final trimester At least according to a few websites— some mark the beginning of the third trimester as week 27, while some make you wait until week 28. All these pregnancy dates are just there to confuse me, either way I am not far off my third trimester – the final stretch.
This week the baby is now the size of a lettuce or a hothouse cucumber what ever that is? It is roughly 14 inches (35cm) long and weighs around 1.75lb. Baby’s eyes have been closed for months and developing and this next week the eyes will start to open. The baby’s ears are more developed and its hearing is improving, so it is getting to listen to all the random conversations I have with E on a daily basis. The baby has also had hiccups this week, the first time I have really noticed them. Very cute!
Sleeping this week has started to be uncomfortable, the pregnancy pillows are out and will hopefully improve things. It’s either the heat stopping me from getting comfortable or just the bump – a combination of the two coupled with the constant visits to the toilet is what is making me wake still feeling tired on some days.
I also find that I seem to get full quicker even though I feel constantly hungry so its time to start eating little but often, the cravings seem to have subsided but I really enjoy Cornish pasty’s, doughnuts (still) and coke, but don’t have the constant I need to have them feeling like I did.
The baby’s movements have moments when it takes me by surprise, some of those kicks are getting quite hard. Braxton hicks contractions are getting more frequent too, they always tend to happen at the most inconvenient time too – such as tying shoe laces, putting a pair of jeans on or in the midst of cooking tea. Some of them can be quite uncomfortable too.
This week I have started sorting through all E’s old baby clothes looking for any neutral items we have, I forgot how small and cute baby clothes are. One things for certain if we have another girl it will save us a fortune the amount of girls clothes we have boxed up in the loft. At least they are now all sorted into age order and all the neutral items are taken out.
Check back next Monday for more bump watch!
