Rowntree's 30% Less sugar sweets

Rowntree’s 30% Less Sugar Sweets

I have a bit of a thing for sweets, to the point that I attempted to give them up for lent. I would say I am more of sweet than chocolate girl.  So when I was contacted and asked if I wanted to try Rowntree’s 30% less sugar Randoms and Fruit Pastilles I obviously said yes!

When the sweets turned up I opened up the packs and tried them. Savouring each one as i tried to figure out if they were any different. First I started off with Fruit Pastilles – now I am a huge fan of Fruit Pastilles. They are chewy, juicy and tasty so I was keen to know if they tasted any different. I was pleasantly surprised that they tasted the same, the only difference was the shape of them.

Next we tried the Randoms. Quite often they sneakily appear in our shopping trolley or can be found in the car for long journeys. I devoured some of them and we came to a unanimous decision that they tasted no different at all. They tasted just like the Randoms we have come to love in our house.

Normally when a product has reduced sugar it is packed full of artificial sweeteners and flavourings and I find they don’t normally taste as good. Rowntree’s have managed to retain the delicious flavour of their Fruit pastilles and Randoms. As well as having 30% less sugar, the new products also have fewer calories. Thanks to Rowntrees 30% less sugar means 30% less guilt!

We are in a society when we all know that cutting down on sugar. We know it is really important and because of this we have all started being aware of how much sugar intake we have. At home when baking it is easy to watch the amount of sugar, in the supermarket we look for low sugar items. The sweet isle is not somewhere you associate with low sugar items. Rowntrees 30% less sugar sweets make that everything in moderation a little bit easier.

Rowntree’s 30% less sweets taste great and I really cannot taste any difference. They are the same juicy, chewy sweets that they always have been.

If you haven’t tried them yet you can buy both Randoms and Fruit Pastilles in the new 30% Less Sugar version from Tesco for £1.24 per pack.

  1. What a great idea, whenever I choose reduced sugar sweets they are loaded with sweeteners – yuk! I will definitely be adding a bag of these to my shopping list, fab photos!

  2. I worry about the taste of reduced sugar sweets, so it’s good to know the taste is the same 🙂 I love fruit pastilles too lol can’t moan at 30% reduced sugar either bonus to my diet 🙂 x

  3. Omg, I have to try these. We always have fruit pastels in the car for long journeys, if the reduced sugar tastes as good as you say, I will definitely switch to those. Will grab a pack next time i’m shopping! Cheers for this!
