Why did I start blogging? or why do I blog? are questions that over a period time i have been asked by people. Sometimes I have even questioned myself about why do I still blog.
A few years ago I was sat around on an evening doing nothing more than watching rubbish television, entering a few competitions and generally searching for things on the internet. I had come across blogs in the past whilst googling all sorts of things and I thought it would be great to write a blog one day.
I started writing my blog in April 2014 – that sounds like such a long time ago and yet the time has flown by and it doesn’t feel like I have been blogging that long at all.
M was working away a lot, in fact you could say he was away more than he was home, so I guess it was safe to say I felt pretty lonely a lot of the time. All of our family live in different areas of the country so when M was away, it was just E and I. When E was in bed on a night I decided to start documenting her life in a blog, she is growing up so fast, I also thought it would be a nice way to share parts of our life with family members, that’s if they wanted to actually read it.
Mum, that’s me soon became my little space to write what I wanted and not all of it was about E, I would write about anything I wanted to, sometimes to vent my opinion and other times to rant. I had no idea where my blog was taking me and I never even thought about because I enjoyed writing and I would write when I wanted to.
My first year of Mum that me was about writing and learning, which I still am. I took everything in, discovered the tips and tricks of the blogging world and I fell in love with it –its turns out that blogging is highly addictive! My confidence grew slowly so I started sharing my posts on my personal Facebook, this probably doesn’t sound like a big deal but when you are letting people you know discover that you write a blog it can be quite daunting as not everyone understands why you do it.
Two years later and I am still blogging and it is one of the best things I have done for myself, when I blog I feel happy and sometimes even proud of what I have achieved. I have also made some blogging friends, been to blogging events and even worked with some amazing brands. None of which I thought would ever happen.
It still amazes me that other people read my blog, I mean other people apart from family members, I can only assume some of the things I write about people actually like to read.
I plan to continue to write my blog and I will do until, if ever I no longer enjoy writing it or if my circumstances change.
So in a nutshell I blog because I enjoy it and I am really excited about how much my blog has grown.
