We are huge Harry Potter Fans in this house, we love the books, the films and basically anything related to Harry Potter. To the point i am a self confessed Harry Potter Geek. It is every fan’s dream to appear to disappear just as Harry does in the films.
We were extremely extremely excited to try out the Wow Stuff Harry Potter Invisibility cloak. Which is set to be one of the top toys that Harry Potter Fans will want.
Harry was gifted the Invisibility cloak in the first book, the Philosopher Stone. Harry used the cloak to get into the restricted section of the library and on many other occasions. The Harry Potter Invisibility cloak gives you the opportunity to recreate these scenes and of course, have a lot of fun.
How The Invisibility Cloak Works
Before you can play with the cloak you need to down the Wow! Stuff App from either the Apple App Store or from Google Play for Android users. The app comes free to download with the cloak and there is unique code on the instruction manual in the box but you do have to create an account.
Firstly, you have to “set your scene”. To do this, position your phone somewhere stable, without the invisibility cloak or its intended wearer in shot. If the phone moves while you’re recording, it’ll mess up your video. So make sure your device isn’t going to wobble. You can set the app to either take a photo or make a video. It took us a few times to get the phone in a good position and to keep it still. But it was worth it.
When the grey side of the cloak is on the outside it just looks like a normal cloak, however when you spin it round to the green side you disappear. The cloak uses green screen technology to make the cloak and any objects disappear. With a little bit of imagination, you could create some great videos. You could do all sorts of things, make objects disappear, give the illusion of floating or even attempt the library scene, have an item moving across the room while your invisible.
Our Verdict
The Harry Potter Invisibility cloak is a lot of fun, after a little practice we were able to get good results from the cloak. As the cloak is one size it can be a little on the large size for children. To start with we had visible feet for a while, however we eventually managed to get some great videos. There was lots of giggles and we were impressed when we made someone disappear.
The cloak on the grey side is very authentic and just like the design of the cloak in the film. It is easy to swish round, not to heavy or too light. We found the cloak worked best in not too cluttered areas, outside was particularly good.
The Wow! Stuff Harry Potter Invisibility Cloak is a must for any Harry Potter Fan and i suspect it will be the top of many fan’s Christmas lists this year. I would highly recommend the invisibility cloak as it gives hours of entertainment for both adults and children alike. It is a must for any Harry Potter fan.
