The new year is often a time for change, many people make resolutions or health changes. I am however looking at making some changes to the home and garden.
We will soon be heading into warmer weather, thankfully. Because of this, thoughts are now heading towards how we can make a garden a comfortable place to relax. Not everyone has green fingers, we certainly don’t. However, not all garden designs are about planting a lot of plants, buts also about furniture and layouts. Minimum changes can still make a garden a wonderful haven to relax.
There are several new garden trends for 2018, new and inspiring creative ideas. This year the trends are all about health and wellness, less plastic and more reusable and renewable products.
Wab-sabi sounds like the perfect trend for me, Its a Japanese word that translates to rustic. It has been practiced in Japan since the 15th Century. If it has been around that long it must brilliant.
It is the perfect solution for any busy/lazy gardener, which is me! It is all about balancing nature and nurture. The style of Wabi-sabi allows you to sit back on your garden, relax and reflect on the beauty of your garden’s natural imperfections. Simply put, wabi-sabi gardens allow nature to ‘do it’s thing’, even if that includes a couple of weeds here and there. Overgrown perennials, moss-covered stones, rusty iron gates and weathered pots are what is in style in 2018. So if you don’t love gardening or you don’t have the time to make a garden look perfect then this might be the trend for you.
