Your mind can only store so much. A photo can provoke so much more from a memory than the mind alone would. Furthermore, for generations to come people can live on through their photographs. Something I know is so important to me.
I know that as mothers, we are always the one behind the lenses. And don’t get me wrong I think all photos are important whether it be of your kids, your husband or the whole family. But make sure you are getting in that frame as much as you can.
- Pictures connect us to those who came before. By letting your kids see your photos from the past and the one you take today, they become connected to their own story. They know the family members. The ancestors who came before them and helped shape the world and person they see today. Self identity is a huge player in self confidence.

Memories are powerful. Memories tie us to people, places, and emotions. Preserving these memories for the days when we may not remember, can’t remember, or might just need reminded of can be a beacon of hope for the future.
Sometimes memories are not enough. To me, photography is an art of memory keeping. Photos spark joy.
I have always loved taking photos, my cameras and phone are full of photos. Whether it is just natural snaps or posed for photos. I need to make sure i am in the photos more than i am.
Having lost my dad last year, i realise even more so the importance of taking photos.
Photographs play an important role in everyone’s life – they connect us to our past, they remind us of people, places, feelings, and stories.
Pictures are a way to capture – by freezing in time – these moments we cant hold on to but would like to re-live again and again.
