Periodically we receive a box of crafts from Bakers Ross which excites E and keeps her entertained. Yesterday I blogged about Making a Mermaid using one of their summer craft kits, that was so much fun. Now it was time to try to make some of the other wonderful things we had been sent.
One of the sets we received is to make your own boat money-box, I knew this was going to be an instant hit as E loves money boxes. We were also sent some porcelain pens so we were able to decorate the boats.
E was excited about getting started, I sat with her and let her colour her boat how ever she would like – I thought this is going to be interesting!
Things started off well, E was managing to do each area and not colour over into the other areas too much, a few scribbles here and there. E sometimes gets bored when it comes to colouring large parts of pictures, she always likes to do the small areas first so I was expecting the same with the boat. But surprisingly when it came to colouring the sides of the boat, after a little break and only a little help with edges she completed it on her own. I love how each side and area is a different colour.
Because E coloured the boat in lovely block colours and didn’t want any help adding windows we decided to stick some buttons on to pretend that they are the boats windows.
Once the boat was finished E couldn’t wait to start using her money box, so we found some loose change in my purse and she happily put it in.
The Boats money boxes cost £4.96 for a box of four and a pack of porcelain pens pack of 5 cost £8.99. This is a great activity and one that would keep a group of children happy for a period of time.
Also in the box was a 12 pack of Animal Colour in Glasses.
The pack contains 3 pairs of different animals to colour and wear. E chose to make bird glasses first. Because of the nature of the card we discovered that felt tip pens smudge so crayons are the best option.
E did well at concentrating on the glasses and surprised me that she didn’t just scribble on them like I expected.
Once they were complete E couldn’t wait to put them on and run around being a bird
