When it was announced that school’s are to be closed indefinitely, many thoughts came into my head. i was a little stressed that the children were going to miss half of a school year, but also the education they would miss out on. Another thing that came into my head, is that we are all going to be stuck at home. I know that we have school work to do, however keeping them entertained and safe was also a priority.
As we know it doesn’t take children long to get bored. This is where i can help… There are plenty of fun games and toys available to buy online. An assortment of fun indoor and outdoor toys. The best thing, is that you can purchase them online.
Wicked Vision Indoor Booma

With a flight range of 4-6 metres, the Wicked Indoor Booma allows you to throw and catch like a pro in the confines of your lounge, bedroom or in the garden. It is made from special “Memorang” foam, It is lightweight so it is safe to use inside without breaking anything. We have had lots of fun trying to get the booma to come back. It is the perfect indoor toy that will entertain anyone for ages. There are some great directions on the packaging on how to throw the Booma. I can fully recommend this for all ages.
Wicked Mega Jump

Wicked Mega Jump is the ultimate jump rope. This 300cm rope helps you jump faster and better. Thanks to the great features such as ball -bearing axels for super smooth rope rotation, thin rope and textured handles, which increases grip. You can also shorten the rope if required.. I absolutely love this skipping rope, it gave me a sense of nostalgia. It is a skipping rope that everyone can all have fun with. I particularly have had fun teaching my eldest the tricks i remember from my childhood. There are some great tutorials on the Wicked Vision YouTube channels. The basic rope tricks tutorial is a great place to start. The Wicked Mega Jump is a great way to have fun and have some exercise at the same time, which is just what is needed during school closures.
Wicked UKick

UKick is a fun indoor or outdoor toy that improves hand eye co-ordination. It is also a great way of practicing football skills while the schools are closed. Ukick is customisable, you can adjust the pro discs to suit your skill level. Challenge your family to a game of UKick, you can use your hands or feet to keep this feathered toy off the ground. Another fun active game that gets you all laughing, it turns out everyone in our family is quite competitive. All i discovered if that i have shocking hand eye coordination. UKick really is great fun.
Shake Off

Shake Off is a fun fitness game that will get the whole family moving. In the box there is a spinner and two shake-o-meters. The spinner decides where you and your opponent will wear the shake-o-meters and how you must shake them. This could either be on your wrist, ankle, their front waistband or the back waistband. the spinner will determine how you must shake your shake-o-meter, this could be running, jumping or freestyle. The shake-o-meters have an LCD display that reveals the scores. My children love this and they get very competitive. This truly is an awesome game that can be played inside or out and is bound to get everyone moving and laughing. A perfect active game to keep the children entertained during school closures.
Kids stuff Crazy Soap

Crazy soap is not only great for bath time fun, children can also use it in the garden. When this was suggested to me i was a little confused. However once the children got hold of the sprays of crazy soap, i can see why. The soap is great for making crazy shapes and lines on the pavement. It smells so nice and you can pick it up and squish it and turn it into shapes. The crazy soap can be used on its own and rinsed away, it can be used and dissolved in the water table or paddling pool. It is bound to keep the children entertained. What i think is great, is if the weather is rubbish it can also be used in a fun daytime bath.

Getting children to learn doesn’t always mean that they have to be sat at a table doing worksheets. Sight Word Swat from Learning resources, is a fun game for 1-4 players. The game features 150 fly-shaped cards and four plastic swatters. The cards are double sided, with a sight word on each side. There are 300 high frequency words from phases 2-6 phonics, letters and sounds framework.
As the words are colour coded it makes it easy for an adult to pick out words that fit into the relevant level. A grown-up can shout out the word and the children can use their swatters to catch the fly with that word. This game is really fast paced and a lot of fun. It surprised me how much the children are learning whilst having fun. It’s a win-win game for us and one that i recommend for anyone that is helping their child learn to read and understand phonics.
So Magic DIY – Wonder Magic Garden

The Wonder Garden is really cute. Both of my two children absolutely love it. The main idea of the Wonder Garden is to create your very own little world, a lovely little Zen garden. You can make a sparkly slime pool and use the coloured sand, arches, decorations and stones to make a wonderful garden. There are even cute animals. All of this surrounds the centerpiece, a crystal tree you get to grow and watch transform in over 12 hours. The tree sits at the top of the garden in a terrarium. In the box you get two tree’s so when all the crystals fall of the first one you can rearrange the garden and watch another tree grow. A fun stem based toy that is great to keep children entertained during the school closures.
Slime DIY – Slime Glam Slime Studio

I have never been a fan of slime in our house, due to a bad experience we once had. However i actually love the Slime Glam Slime Studio. The slime is so easy to make and it isn’t too slimy and gooey once it is made. You simply mix slime powder with water. You then add you scent, which ever scents you choose will determine the colour of the slime. Once the slime is complete you can add some decorations that add extra texture to the slime.
You can make 16 different slimes with 3 different scents. The set also includes little perfume style bottles to store the slime in. There are also little cards that you can write your recipes on. The slime kit has been a big hit and my 8 year old can make the slime alone. Both of my children love the set and i am secretly quite impressed with the end product. I know that this set will keep my entertained during school closures.
There really are some great products available to help keep our children entertained during the school closures. I love that there are toys aimed at keeping active, toys that are stem related and games that help children learn. If you are looking for something different to keep your children busy and having fun at the same time then i can totally recommend the items in this post. What is a big thumbs up is that you can buy all of the items online.
Stay safe everyone and make sure the children have lots of fun, before you know it they will be back to school.
